Commission of Experts

The Commission of Experts for Research and Innovation (Expertenkommission Forschung und Innovation - EFI) advises the German Federal Government and presents an annual report on research, innovation and technological performance in Germany.

The Commission of Experts on Research and Innovation presented its annual report to Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz on 26 February 2025.

This year, the focus will be on the following topics:
 

  • Transformative Structural Change through Digitalization and Decarbonization
  • Quantum Technologies
  • Innovation in the Water Industry

EFI's R&I Dashboard

The R&I Dashboard provides access to the core indicators updated for the 2025 reporting year and the new R&I monitoring of Germany's competitive position in selected technology areas such as artificial intelligence, microelectronics and biotechnology. It also contains indicators on Germany's technological performance.
